Lesson 26: Summer Of Code 2007 wrapup

Lesson Plan

Summer is slowly (yeah, right!) coming to an end, and that means the Google Summer Of Code is finishing up too. We've had 19 students with full-time, sponsored projects this summer, and if you join the dojo lesson this week, you'll be able to hear them tell us all about what they learned, what they accomplished, and what lies ahead for their respective modules.

Won't you please be there to support this fantastic cause and the people who've made our Drupaly lives a little bit more fun? Join us!

Post-lesson Notes

We learned from Allister B. that sometimes, when you're beginning a project, trying to balance the scope against the featureset and fitting it into your timeframe is HARD! Sepeck suggested that in the future, we add the concept of core goals and have a category for 'stretch goals' vs. 'nice to have'.

DAST beat Workhabit's autopilot to the punch. It's important to note that DAST is about installing Drupal with all its modules, similar to an installation profile, while autopilot is about taking a site from test to live.

Lesson 17: Summer of Code Cookoff

This week, webchick hijacks the session slot to do a Q&A session for the Summer of Code students, to answer any questions you folks have before Summer of Code officially kicks off the next day! For us dojo regulars, this will be a great time to meet a fresh generation of drupalers, and a chance to hear about the great projects they're working on.
