New stuff in Drupal 6 theming

MerlinOfChaos presents his What's New In Drupal 6 Theming. The same talk as he presented in Barcelona, only this time, Dvessel joins him in a tag-team presentation of graphical proportions! Merlin has a slideshow, or so we're heard, that rivals Eaton's FAPI3 slides. This oughtta be good!

Here's a theme made entirely from css. The designer used no template.php functions and no page.tpl.php php code.

Theming a Views Table

This week, EclipseGc will be demonstrating how to theme views. The views module is already a must-have module for almost any Drupal site, but knowing how to extend and theme it will really allow you to 'kick it up a notch', if you will.

Flex Your Drupal

This week, FFH has volunteered to show us how to use drupal and flash together - it should be exciting stuff for anyone who wants to turn Drupal into a full-motion multimedia platform!

Skype is starting to let us down, so we're looking into some other applications for the audio portion of our lessons. This week, we'll be using TeamSpeak. You'll need to download the latest version of Teamspeak for Linux, Mac, Win and then use teamspeak://webavant.com:8768 or type webavant.com:8768 directly into the Connection window.

Color Module Integration

Dvessel has bravely volunteered to go over the color module and how to integrate it into a theme. It's a module seldom used outside of the Garland theme, but hopefully that'll change after this presentation!

To get the most out of the it, you should be familiar with Photoshop (especially slicing) and theming in general.

Lightning Lesson: Dmitrig01 turns a PSD into a Drupal Theme (part 1 of 2)

In a new format, dmitrig01 offered to share his screen while he turned a PSD into a Theme. This is part 1, in which the theme is translated into Drupal-friendly HTML. Part 2 will cover the final process: making it into a theme.

There is no audio, but simplymenotu asks a number of helpful questions in the always-visible IRC log. It's an experimental format, but it was very easy to produce on the fly. Let us know what you think!

Theming & the Themer Pack

UPDATE: Sunday's Lesson Will Be Focused On The Drupal 5 Themer Pack. There's also a g.d.o group for this if you find it very exciting. We'll talk about the aims of the project, cover drupal theme concepts in general, and get down and dirty with some template files.

The Drupal Dojo is a new community group dedicated to spreading best-practices and helping developers who are new to the system get up to speed and become masters in their own right. There's a shortage of Drupal talent, and everybody knows it.
