How To Create A Test Environment

This lesson was originally scheduled for June 10th, 2007, but due to technical difficulties with VNC screensharing and Skype audio it was postponed until June 17th..

With Drupal 6's code freeze approaching we would also like to get as many people helping with patch testing as possible. You don't need to know how to code in order to help out. You do, however, need a testing environment to test patches with. Don't have a localhost testing site? Well, you'd better watch this week's lesson then!

We'll have Samtresler training you to install a testbed on Linux, and Addisun telling you how the Mac localhost configs work. FLK will be showing us the innards of the Windows environment.

The trainings will take place consecutively in the same classroom due to recording and audio limitations. No sense giving the Tube Gremlins any more snacks that we have to. Each lesson will be 30 minutes long with no interruptions, and we'll open up the Skype channel for 10 minutes of questions at the end of each section. Please have your mic on, tested, and muted before you ask the Skyperator for voice. Schedule is as follows:

  • 11:00am PDT Mac training with Addisun
  • 11:40am PDT Linux training with Samtresler
  • 12:20pm PDT Windows training with FLK

~See you in the dojo~

Attention:
As of Tuesday of this week, the VNC reflector pages as well as the port numbers for direct VNC connections have been changed. webavant.com/vnc is gone, as is webavant.com/vncviewer. From now on, you should use http://webavant.com/dojo1 as the default room. (or server = webavant.com:6001) See http://groups.drupal.org/node/4426 for details.
